It looks like Senator Elizabeth Warren is running for president

The Massachusetts Senator just announced that she will be organizing an “exploratory committee” for a potential 2020 presidential run– this means she will be able to start raising money for her official run.

“Every person in America should be able to work hard, play by the same set of rules, and take care of themselves and the people they love. That’s what I’m fighting for, and that’s why I’m launching an exploratory committee for president,” Warren wrote on Twitter.

The preliminary focus of her campaign seems to have a lot to do with accountability: holding the government accountable, large corporations accountable, and holding the country accountable for protecting the rights of marginalized citizens. The New York Times recently reported that Kamala Harris of California Cory Booker of New Jersey, and Kirsten Gillibrand of New York have also been shifting their campaigns into high gear.

The 2020 field is looking pretty crowded, but also younger, more diverse, and more progressive than ever. Who’s excited?
